Generating & Re-Generating Cover Letters in Application Sessions

This guide shows you how to find a job application you created earlier and re-generate a new cover letter with updated options, such as making your letter shorter or changing its writing tone.

Prerequisites

  • A registered account and an existing job application session saved on your dashboard.

  • Available daily free allowance or 1 credit in your account balance.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Open Your Saved Application Session

Choose any of these 5 navigation paths to open your target application:

  1. Path 1 (Dashboard List): Click Dashboard in top navigation, locate your job card such as "Acme Corp - Senior Project Manager", and click the card to open its workspace.

  2. Path 2 (History Search): Click History, type the company name into the Search box, filter by status, and click "Open Session".

  3. Path 3 (Direct Web Link): Paste or click your direct web link /dashboard/[sessionId] in your browser.

  4. Path 4 (CV Library): Go to CV Library and click linked sessions on your CV card.

  5. Path 5 (Standalone Tool Banner): On the Cover Letter Generator page, click "Open in Session Workspace".

Step 2: Click the Cover Letter Workspace Tab

Look at the sub-navigation bar near the top of the session workspace and click the "Cover Letter" tab.

Step 3: Choose Your Updated Form Options

Adjust the form options to customize your new cover letter:

  1. Writing Tone Dropdown Menu: Click the Writing Tone dropdown menu and select your writing style: Professional (standard corporate tone), Enthusiastic (energetic startup tone), Formal (traditional executive tone), Concise (direct and punchy tone), or Creative (agency focus).

  2. Length Selector Buttons: Click your preferred letter length button: Short (under 200 words), Standard (around 300 words), or Detailed (400 words or more). To create a shorter letter, click "Short".

  3. Custom Focus Notes Text Area: Type specific emphasis instructions, such as "Keep under 150 words and focus on team leadership".

  4. Company Name Input Field: Check or update the company name field for accurate salutations.

Step 4: Click Re-Generate Cover Letter

  1. Click the primary "Re-Generate Cover Letter" button.

  2. A confirmation box appears displaying credit cost (1 credit or free daily allowance deduction) and your remaining account balance.

  3. Click "Confirm & Generate". Your new cover letter streams live into the text box.

Step 5: Copy or Download Your Letter

  • Copy to Clipboard Button: Click the "Copy Text" button to paste your letter into an online job portal.

  • Download Text File Button: Click "Download Text" to save a text file to your computer.

  • Automatic Version Save: Your new letter version saves automatically to this session history.

Accessibility and Keyboard Navigation

  • Navigate between Tone dropdown, Length buttons, and Focus Notes text box using the Tab key.

  • Press Spacebar or Enter to select Length buttons or activate dropdown options.

  • Screen readers announce confirmation dialogs and real-time generation progress automatically.

You can re-generate cover letters as many times as you like. Each new version is saved to your session workspace history.
